EPL Week 13: Chelsea & Tottenham Big Ls, Manchester City’s Struggling Bench, and US Men’s National Team’s Meltdown

The Good, The Bad, and The Kai Havertz – Summer Signings

Joao Pedro – will the real Joao Pedro please stand up?… Seriously, there’ are a lot of these guys (https://www.whoscored.com/Search/?t=joao+pedro) Club record signing at 30M and took some time to get going, but will look to be heavily relied upon moving forward given his recent output and critical impacts in their win this past weekend.

James Madison – Forget about Jermain Defoe,Tottenham should be sanctioned for highway robbery for stealing Madison from Leicester for 46M. Although I guess 58M for Richarlison is punishment enough. Most influential player of the season in the EPL (look at Tottenham without him if you need proof).

Kai Havertz – 1 goal and 1 assist from open play would be pretty good output for a CM, if you purchased him for 20M, not 65M. Ryan’s fear of Kai’s sale haunting Chelsea seems unfounded…

Mason Mount – I would have mentioned some stats here if he had any.  140K per EPL minute played is pretty impressive though.

Cole Palmer – I guess for the listeners, this one is pretty self-explanatory.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – Forest look consistently more dangerous when CHO is available and on the pitch (a rare occasion indeed)

Declan Rice – Not sure all of our praise was justified here at 105M

Moussa Diaby – I think Ryan called this one, but 3 goals, 3 assists, and 1,000 minutes with AVL sitting in the top 4 is stellar. Oh yeah, and maybe I was wrong about calling Villa the worst team in the prem.

Champions League Bits

What a magnificent completed dribble by Livramento to create the first goal against PSG for the Magpies.

How did AC go from fun to depressing so quickly?

I have to continue to remind myself that as bad as this gets, it could be worse…I could watch United every week.

Don’t look now, but there was a Dest assist and pretty Pepi (not panini) game-winner this week for PSV.
